Crime Report: Thefts From Car, Driver Arrested on Drunken Driving Charges

Driver who passed police car had warrants

Police pulled over a driver on a traffic violation March 24 after she passed them on the right on Six Mile Road, according to Northville Township Police reports.

The 31-year-old Garden City woman told police she was speeding because her father might have had a heart attack and that she "was trying to get to him," police said. Officers discovered she had an expired license and two warrants – one out of Redford Township and one out of Westland.

According to police reports, she was arrested for driving with a suspended license and on the two warrants.

Man speeding through parking lot arrested

A 25-year-old Novi man was arrested March 23 after he roused the suspicions of nearby police by speeding through a parking lot. Police reports indicate that the man's truck did not have a license plate and that the man had a suspended license.

He was arrested, charged with driving with a suspended license and released on a $100 bond.

Woman arrested on drunken driving charge

Township police pulled over a 60-year-old Northville woman after police say they observed her repeatedly driving over the dividing line on Haggerty Road. According to the police report, the officer detected a strong smell of alcohol when she opened her car window.

She reportedly told police she had "had a couple of drinks." The police report also noted that her eyes were watery and red.

She failed a field sobriety test, and her breath test indicated a blood-alcohol level greater than the legal limit of 0.08. The woman was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated, and her car was towed.

GPS stolen from unlocked car

A woman on the 17000 block of Northville Trail reported to police that the GPS and purse in her sport utility vehicle were stolen. She told police that over the night of March 24, her Jeep was parked in her driveway when the items were stolen.

She also said there was nothing of value in her purse.

Man seen walking in woods arrested on warrants

Police spotted a man who was walking behind the woods by and on Haggerty Road around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. According to police reports, the 49-year-old Wayne man was retrieving his bike, which he had hidden while at work nearby.

Police discovered he had four outstanding warrants. One of the warrants was out of Van Buren Township, which is the police department to which he was later transferred.

Purse stolen from car at

A woman reported to police that her purse had been stolen from her unlocked car at Maybury Farms. She told police that someone had taken the purse, which contained about $300 in cash, credit cards and other items, from the car around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
