Learn 'Maple's Sweet Story' at Kensington Metropark

Kensington Metropark is offering guided tours to see how maple syrup is made.

Everyone who tours will head to the sugar bush, see trees tapped, sap boiled down and more. Tours begin at noon, with the last one leaving at 2:30 p.m.

After 4 pm, the sugar bush will remain open for self-guided visits.

A re-enactment of an Algonquin winter camp will also be set up in the woods from noon-4 p.m. 

Registration is not required for the weekend programs; it is recommended but not required for large groups to preregister.

Tour fee is $3 for adults; $1 for seniors and children 3 to 12 years old; children under 3 are free. Call 248-685-1561 if you have questions.

Visitors can start out with breakfast at the Farmhouse Grille from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Cost is $5 per person, and includes three pancakes, two sausage links, and a juice box of coffee.
