Fatal Accident on Eight Mile Road Sunday

Cause of accident is not being released. Case is being forwarded to prosecutor.

A 45-year-old South Lyon man was killed Sunday afternoon when an SUV drove left of the center line and struck his Ford Edge head on.

The man was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to a press release from Northville Township Public Safety Director John Werth. The 11-year-old daughter of the driver of the Ford Edge was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at St. Joseph.

The driver of the other SUV, a Jeep Liberty, according to witness reports taken by police, was traveling west on Eight Mile Road just west of Beck. He began veering to the right, over-corrected and jumped the center line. Werth said the reason for the driver's veering is not being released but is being forwarded to the prosecutor. Alcohol and speeding were not a factor, he said.
