Fourth of July Celebration - Mill Race Village

The 4th of July celebration in Northville is a wonderful time for family and friends to enjoy each other’s company and celebrate the history of our great country.  It is also a perfect time for our children to learn about our history.  The Northville Historical Society is sponsoring a number of events at Mill Race Historical Village to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg and the Gettysburg Address.

Along the River: Re-enactor/ shooters from 1st South Carolina (Confederates) and 24th Michigan (Union).  The 24th Michigan Militia was raised from Wayne County and sustained an 80% casualty rate at Gettysburg.

From the Gazebo: The Gettysburg Address will be read at 12:30pm and 1:30pm.  Lincoln, of course, makes the connection between the promise of the Declaration of Independence and the sacrifices of the soldiers at Gettysburg.

There will also be children's activities and games.

Plan to bring a picnic and have lunch on our expansive lawn.

Please join us for this fun and educational experience.
