UPDATED: 4 Candidates File for City Offices and 2 for School Board in November Election

The deadline to file for office was on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Two seats for the Northville Public Schools board are open and two people have submitted applications. Three city offices are also open.

The deadline for the positions, to be elected in the Nov. 8 elections, was at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Anita Bartschat and Scott Craig are the two applicants for the school board, according to township clerk Sue Hillebrand. Neither of the incumbents, current secretary Libby Smith and former president Marilyn Price had filed.

At the meeting, both Smith and Price said they were considering running again but had not finalized a decision.

The city of Northville also has positions open, including mayor and two council seats.

As of 1:30 p.m., incumbent and long-time mayor Christopher Johnson has re-filed for mayor and current city councilwoman Nancy Darga has reapplied to be on the ballot. Northville resident Robert Grant has also applied for a city council seat.

City clerk Dianne Massa added Wednesday that one more name was added late Tuesday afternoon before the deadline. Ryan McKindles will also be running for city council.

She said that the names would have to be certified before they made it on the ballot.
