In Brief: Water and Sewer Rates to Go Up in Northville, Road Construction Approved

Here's a roundup of items from the Northville City Council meeting.

Water, sewer rate increases approved

Northville’s city council voted Monday night to raise water and sewer rates, effective July 1.

The changes to be implemented are:

  • Water increase from present rate of $4.51 per unit to $4.83.
  • Sewer increase from present rate of $3.91 per unit to $4.25.
  • Bimonthly service charge increase from $6.73 to $7.07.
  • Sewer dual meter charge increase from $1.92 to $2.21.

The city reports that the increases can be partly attributed to the fact that "the rate for water purchased by the City of Northville from the City of Detroit will increase by 10.6 percent as of July 1, 2011. Wayne County sewage disposal charges will increase approximately 13.9 percent as of July 1, 2011."

Reconstruction projects in April 2012. The council approved design plans in May from Orchard, Hiltz & McCliment, Inc., according to a report from Public Works Director James Gallogly.
