Kids 4 Afghan Kids Raises $8,400 From Auction and Hoedown

The organization, which raises funds for schools and a clinic for Afghan children, held its hoedown last week.

Northville's (K4AK) group held last week.

The kids group, which scoured local businesses over the summer for donations for the online auction, raised $8,400, parent Lori Schafer said. Some of the auction items included athletic memorabilia and event tickets.

K4AK was started in 1998 at by teacher Khris Nedam. In attendance this year was the group's new Afghani project director, Jalal Wardak, Schafer said. His brother, Seraj, was formerly director before he was killed in a vehicle accident.

K4AK fund-raises to maintain a school previously built through its donations as well as a clinic for the students and their families. They also pay for doctor and dental services at the clinic.
