Local Attorney Supports Local Bounce House Business

As a local attorney and business owner we know first hand how important it is to have community support and the support of other local businesses, which is why we like to spotlight local businesses and give back.

This week we are supporting Jumpness, a local bounce house company based out of Milford. We interviewed owner and founder of Jumpness, Anthony Tori.

AB:  How did you come up with the idea to rent bounce houses?

Jumpness: When I was younger we always had a bounce house at our family events. I thought it made sense to buy one for the family so we would save money. I also wanted to rent them out to kids at my school. At the age of 13 it was a little difficult figuring out the logistics to deliver the rentals so I was unable to purchase a bounce house. Ten years later I was sitting at my job that I didn’t enjoy and thought to myself, I want to have fun at work. I remembered the bounce house I wanted to buy when I was younger and decided to just buy a couple of them. That’s the day I started to have fun at work.

AB: What is the most fun part of the job?

Jumpness: The coolest part is seeing how happy the kids get when we start to unroll the bounce house. It seems like the happiest day of their lives. Sometimes it’s funny when you see a disappointed look on the kid’s face because they think the bounce house is small. Once we turn the blower on and the bounce house starts to inflate the look goes from disappointed to smiling uncontrollably.

AB: Are bounce houses only for kids?

Jumpness: Absolutely not. I couldn’t tell you how many times I arrived at an event to see the kids watching their parents in the bounce house. Most of the time they’re all out of breath and have this guilty look on their face like they did something wrong. It’s quite entertaining.

AB: What do the parents say when you catch them taking over the bounce house?

Jumpness: For some reason there are always a ton of giggles. Then it’s usually something like, “the kids told us to try it”, of course they did! The parents can enjoy the bounce house just as much, but the secret benefit of a bounce house is that every kid passes out extremely easy after the party. The kids don’t realize how much exercise they get after jumping for hours.

AB: When the party ends, how do the kids react?

Jumpness: We go from the coolest people in the world to the devil. There were a couple times where I just wanted to keep the bounce house at the customer’s house because it looked like I took every ounce of happiness from the kids. You know the Pixar movies with the sad animal characters? That’s what I see sometimes when I tell the kids it’s time for the bounce house to go.

AB: How long have you been providing and taking away happiness?

Jumpness: Well, if you put it that way it’s been five great years. It really doesn’t seem like it’s been that long though!

AB: I have to ask, has anyone ever gotten hurt jumping in one of these bounce houses?

Jumpness: Never

AB: Any particular rental stand out over the past five years?

Jumpness: There really aren’t any rentals that stand out. Nothing too crazy has happened. I just look back at all the relationships I’ve made with people who live in the area and would have to say that’s what stands out. I’ve made good friends and helped families make lifetime memories. Everyone remembers when they were in a bounce house!

AB: Well thank you for the interview! We look forward to having Jumpness out for our next office party! I know my favorite bounce house is the Gladiator Joust. What a great way to blow of steam from the office.

Jumpness: Yeah, the Gladiator Joust is a good one (laughing). Thank you for the interview, we look forward to this season, it's going to be a great one!
