Mellow Shepherd-Collie Mix Awaits a Home

Zeek – a calm, sweet and affectionate dog – is at a kennel until he finds a place to call home.

Zeek is a Shepherd-Collie mix, although the exact breeds are unknown. He’s about two years old, and at 72 pounds is a bit underweight for his size. Zeek is on the thin side and should gain a few pounds.

Waggin’ Tails Dog Rescue saved Zeek from a rural shelter that was about to hand him over to a dealer who sells dogs for use in research.

I met Zeek at a Waggin’ Tails adoption event, where I spoke with volunteer Lori Dames. Zeek is staying at a kennel until a foster home opens up, or better yet, until he’s adopted. He has been neutered, and is up-to-date on his shots.

Zeek is:

  • House trained
  • Crate trained
  • Rides great in a car
  • Walks well on a leash

Dames said that Zeke is calm, sweet and very affectionate. He nudges her hand to be petted, rests his head on her lap and looks up at her. He has a favorite toy and needs regular exercise and mental stimulation.

Waggin’ Tails volunteers are still getting to know Zeek, but so far he’s made a great impression.
