DUI Defense Lawyer
The reason why it is so important to understand field sobriety testing and chemical testing is because that is the evidence a judge will use to determine if you should be charged with a crime, or jury will use to decide if you are guilty or innocent.
If field sobriety tests do not provide enough probable cause to believe you were driving drunk then the judge will dismiss the case. A knowledgeable lawyer will know how to hold a hearing and how to cross-examine the police officer. A successful motion to suppress field sobriety tests will mean dismissal of the drinking and driving charges against you.
In the event that you have to take a case to trial it will be important to have a lawyer that can explain chemical testing to the jury and how it can often be incorrect. If the chemical testing in your matter could have been incorrect that means there is reasonable doubt and you must be found not guilty.

DUI in the 35th District Court
The court process starts out with an arraignment where the judge will formally tell you the maximum possible penalty of the offense you are facing. The judge will also ask you to plea guilty or not guilty and finally the judge will address bong.
After the arraignment your case will be set for pre trial. At the pre trial your lawyer will have an opportunity to discuss the case with the prosecutor and see if a resolution can be made. If the case is dismissed you will be done. Some people do not have a good enough case to go to trial but shouldn’t plead guilty as charged either. Those cases can result in a plea to a lesser offense so that both you and the prosecutor feel that you won a little. If a resolution cannot be made then your case may proceed to trial.
If you are found guilty you would go to sentencing and if you are found not guilty you would walk out a free person and the court would lose jurisdiction over you.
