CHELSEA — senior forward Stephen Champagne scored twice and assisted on another goal as the Mustangs romped past Oxford 8-1 in the Michigan Public High School Hockey Showcase Friday afternoon.
Champagne was bubbly after getting a shot in the spotlight late in the game. He was pushed from behind during an odd-man rush down ice. The play resulted in a penalty shot and Champagne didn’t disappoint on the goal.
The Mustangs led 2-0 after the first period and extended that lead with three goals in the second.

Cole Brown and Logan Hill each scored and assisted in a goal for Northville.
Northville outshot Oxford 29-12. The Bobcats pulled starting goalie Oscar Alexanderson in favor of Patrick Hanson with six minutes remaining in the third period.

Kevin Dutzy scored the only goal for Oxford.
The Mustangs look to build off their success when they take on Pinckney Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Despite this being an invitational, they will be playing on the home ice of the Pirates.
