Northville Scout Raising Funds for Central Detroit Christian Preschool Playground

Nicholas Stanley of Northville Boy Scout Troop 755 is raising funds for his Eagle Scout project: Building a preschool playground in Detroit

Nicholas Stanley, age 15, a member of Boy Scout Troop 755 in Northville, is raising funds for his Eagle Scout project. Nick is working with the Central Detroit Christian Community Development Corporation (CDC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to build a preschool playground in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Detroit.

Central Detroit Christian is renovating the Tried Stone Baptist Church at the intersection of Taylor and Woodrow Wilson in Detroit. The church will become a community center, the offices of the CDC, medical offices, and a preschool. The preschool must have a playground so that it can be licensed to open. There is an urgent need for a preschool in this part of Detroit and a safe place for the preschoolers and neighborhood children to play. Ward Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Northville is partnering with the CDC to start the preschool. Nick is raising money to build the playground and will lead the community build.

If the money for the playground can be raised quickly, the playground can be built this fall before the ground freezes, and the preschool can open. Your support is needed to make this happen. For more information, visit youcaring.com and search "cdc playground", go to www.cdcplayground.com, or watch the youtube video "Help Build the CDC Preschool Playground". 100% of funds contributed will be used for the purchase of playground equipment, surfacing, and the construction of the playground, and all donations are tax deductible. If more money is raised than the goal, it will be used to build a better playground. "Any donation will be greatly appreciated," said Nick.
