Petitions to Legalize Pot in Michigan Ready for Signatures
Two petitions approved by a state board, and backers will now begin gathering the 253,000 signatures needed to send issue to Legislature.

The language of two petitions to legalize marijuana for recreational purposes in Michigan was approved Thursday by the Board of State Canvassers, giving backers the go-ahead to begin gathering signatures to put the referendums on the ballot, WDIV-TV reports.
Signatures of 253,000 qualified voters are needed to put the bills before the Republican-led legislature If lawmakers fail to approve recreational pot, the measures would go before voters in the Novemeber 2016 general election.
