SHARING THE WEALTH.......Oh what a night!

If you live long enough, maybe you will get a chance to see this record broken....or maybe not!  Tonight in Northville, the men's LAX team set a record that may never be surpassed.  It was not a record of personal achievement or prowess, it was the best kind of record....a team record.  As Coach Durham would say, "It's a FAMILY record."  Gabriel Richard, a strong LAX school, visited the Corral for a mid-season non-conference matchup of two perennial powers.  But tonight belonged to the Mustangs.  Final score, 17-3 in a contest that was dominated by the orange and black.

So what's the record?  At the end of the first half, Northville lead 12-1.  Northville's 12 goals had been scored by 12 different players.  Even more, 11 of those goals were assisted by 9 different players........wow!   When alerted to this amazing feat of teamwork after the game, Coach Durham was thrilled, "I didn't know that statistic yet," he said, "but it is really a tribute to how close our guys are with each other.  They really don't care who scores, as long as he is a Mustang."  Then, with a chuckle, he added, "If I had know the extent of our team record, I would have tried to get Justice (our Goalie) to score.....Oh, but he already got that done earlier in the season."

All in all, 13 Mustangs found the net in the game while 10 had assists.  Scoring tonight were Nate Ray, John Cooke, Alec Melucci, Brennan Sweeney, Alex Fuller, Jimmy Steslicki, Peter Chew, David Maier, Connor Sweeney, Paul Lindow, Rob Sneed, Jake Fuller, and Matt Bryndza.  Nate Ray (3), Alec Melucci (2), and John Cooke (2) were multiple goal scorers.  Assisting tonight were Connor Sweeney(3), Jimmy Steslicki, Jake Fuller, John Cooke(3), Brennan Sweeney, Alec Melucci, AJ Batshon, Harry Dyson, and representing the defensive squad, Daniel Baldwin.

Fans were treated to a remarkable display of teamwork and unselfish play this evening.....quite likely the most enjoyable game possible for the huge crowd on hand.  Next action is Wednesday night verse Canton, a key conference foe.  Officials are expecting a capacity crowd in light of tonight's performance, so arrive early to secure a good seat.  See you then!
