Our Northville Men's LAX Team honored their favorite teachers at halftime this evening, and then celebrated with them post game after a convincing 11-6 win over league rival Plymouth. It was the Mustang's 7th consecutive victory and brings them to 9-3 on the season. What's more, it sets up a huge game Friday night at home against South Lyon United to decide the League Championship. With both teams healthy, this looks to be a barn burner.
Tonight's action saw the return of three key guys to the Northville lineup after missing games due to injury. Senior Jake Fuller returned after sitting out with a possible concussion, Sophomore Brennan Sweeney missed Friday as well, and Freshman Kyle Condino made his long awaited debut after suffering a serious ankle injury during the early preseason. "It was great to be at full strength," exclaimed head coach Greg Durham, "But I expect us to get better each game that we can stay injury free. It takes guys a little time to get full speed when they have to miss games. I am really proud that these guys have hung in there and fought through injuries to get back with their teammates."
In what many fans felt was a loosely officiated contest, the Mustangs fought through a lot of adversity (and a great performance by the Wildcat Goalie) to build and keep a lead. John Cooke, finally getting back to full strength after and injury of his own, led the way with 4 goals. Alex Justice provided some excellent goal keeping at the Mustang net to keep the bad guys at bay. All in all it was a very satisfying evening for the home team. Of note were the former players, now college students, who returned to watch the "NEW" Stangs get a victory.

After all however, this was a night to honor the teachers who work so hard to give these young men their best in the classroom daily. Each player was asked to select a teacher he would like to honor at Teacher Appreciation. The chosen teachers were invited to the game and recognized at halftime, where the players presented them with a certificate of appreciation and bag of goodies. It was an opportunity for the kids to show their love for these special people, and for the fans to cheer as each was recognized.......and cheer they did. What a great night at the Corral!
Here are the teachers that were recognized as Special tonight: Ms. Bellows, Mr. Bowen, Mrs. Carulli, Mr. Clark, Mr. Corless, Ms. Couchman, Mr. Creighton, Mrs. Dent, Mr. Dent, Ms. DeSanto, Mr. Dicken, Mrs. Fessenden, Mrs. Hall, Mr. Kinde, Mr. Kostrzewa, Mr. Ladach, Mr. LaDuke, Mrs. Montmorency, Mrs. Morrison, Ms. Obrigkeit, Mr. Ortopan, Mr. Polanski, Ms. Rohde, Mr. Schembri, Mrs. Stamoulis, Mr. Stetson, Mr. Szukaitis, Mr. Turner, Mrs. Warner, and Mr. Watson. And this scribe, speaking for the parents of these players, wants to let these special teachers know how much of a positive impact they make on our children each day. Our whole community is thankful.
