U.S. TEAMS NAMED TO COMPETE AT ITF SENIORS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN FRANCE
Ann Arbor Resident Bill Godfrey to Participate in International Team Competition
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The USTA today announced that Bill Godfrey of Ann Arbor, Mich. is among the 24 players who will represent the United States at the ITF Seniors World Team Championships, the senior equivalent of tennis’ Davis Cup and Fed Cup competitions. The 24 American athletes will be competing against players from 29 other countries.
The ITF Seniors World Team Championships is the highest-ranked event on the ITF Seniors Circuit for male and female players in the age categories 50-60 and will be held June 8-13 in La Baule, France.
Godfrey, 55, has been playing tennis since he was ten years old. In 2014, he was a USTA National Grass Court Finalist, 55 & over. A graduate of the University of Michigan, he was the Big Ten Singles Champion in 1982. Godfrey is the owner of a real estate development company and currently lives in Ann Arbor, Mich.

When he is not representing the United States in foreign competitions he is an active USTA League player in the 18 & Over 5.0, 40 & Over 4.5, and 55 & Over 9.0 divisions. USTA League is the country’s largest recreational tennis league, helping players nationwide enjoy the thrill of competition while making friends, improving skills and staying active. USTA League offers several league programs throughout the year that vary by gender, age, and skill level divisions. Division formats also vary by offering singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.
Following the ITF Seniors World Team Championships, the World Individual Championships will be held June 14-21, also in La Baule.
