Advent Vespers at Good Shepherd
Advent Vespers (an evening prayer service) at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church are the first three Wednesdays in December, 7:00 PM.
Advent Vespers at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church (41415 W. Nine Mile Road, Novi) are on Wednesdays in December at 7:00 PM. All are invited.
Our Advent Vespers will focus on the Song of Mary, “My Soul Magnifies the Lord.” Each week (December 3, 10, and 17), we will reflect on another part of Mary’s song and consider how Mary’s joy is our joy as well. Each Vespers is a service of hymns, lessons, and prayers.

Our preparations for holidays in December is maddening. Too much to do and too little time. Perhaps it seems more exhausting than exciting.
The Church uses the season of Advent (four weeks before Christmas) to prepare, to pray, and to ponder the coming of Jesus. It is a time of quiet meditation and humble repentance. This is how we prepare to meet our Lord.

We prepare as the Lord comes to us at Christmas. This is his first coming, at which time he did all that was necessary to atone for our sins, guilt, and shame so that we would be forgiven. But he will come again to judge the living and the dead. Our joy is that we know our judgment: Whoever believes in him and is baptized into his name will be saved. So our hearts are especially set on his return when he will deliver us from a world of sin and sorrow to an everlasting perfect Paradise.
Our Wednesday evening Advent Vespers are an additional opportunity to remember what we are preparing to celebrate and why it is worth celebrating.
Our regular Sunday services are at 10:00 AM. All are welcome to those too.
