Make Your Dream Retirement A Reality at Fox Run

When Sally and John Kendrick visited Fox Run, they were impressed by the number of activities and clubs offered.

Since moving to Fox Run, an Erickson Senior Living community in Novi, Mich., John and Sally Kendrick have enjoyed an active, social lifestyle they couldn't attain in their old house.

"The yard was too big," says John, noting that they also had to replace the heating and air conditioning unit in their house. "It was a hassle to deal with all that stuff. Here, we don't have to!"

Now, with a maintenance-free home and access to an array of clubs and amenities, the Kendricks have more free time to pursue their interests and make new friends.

"We are so impressed by the number of activities as well as the energy of many of the residents here," says John. "We've met so many friends through groups."

The right fit

When John and Sally were exploring their senior living options, they were looking for a community that would not only support an active lifestyle but provide a range of health care options.

With an array of amenities, including a fitness center, barbershop and beauty salon, woodshop, performing arts theater, TV studio, and more, the couple knew they'd have plenty of ways to stay engaged.

To learn more about the community and its health care offerings, they decided to join the Priority List, as members are invited to attend exclusive informational events.

During the "Meet the Docs" presentation, John and Sally learned that they could visit the on-site medical center for a range of services, including annual checkups and vaccinations, and have their prescriptions filled right at Fox Run's pharmacy.

"That was a big selling point for us," says Sally.

Out and about

Since settling into their residence, John and Sally have taken advantage of the many amenities and activities available on campus.

Together, they participate in the history, birders, and astronomy clubs. When the leader of the astronomy club discovered that the Kendricks were career geologists, he invited them to speak to the group about the rocks on Mars.

During the summer, John plays with several of the men's golf groups. He also takes part in the Spanish language group as well as the investment discussion group. Sally cofounded a book group, leads the recycling committee, and volunteers with the library group.

The couple also frequent the fitness center several times a week and enjoy attending musical events on campus.

"In our experience, getting involved in activities is just one way that we've met people. Everybody's so friendly here," says John.

Dining with friends

In addition to a full calendar of activities, dining plays a central role in the Kendricks' life at Fox Run.

"I'm really impressed with the food here. I just can't believe the variety we enjoy at the five restaurants, each with a different menu," says John.

Thanks to the Signature Dining program, the made-to-order menu items at the fast-casual venues, bistros, bars, and full-service restaurants at Fox Run change regularly--something they never expected of a retirement community.

Sally notes that before moving to Fox Run, she and John would often finish eating dinner in about 15 minutes. Not anymore.

"Sometimes, we'll be at dinner for an hour and a half, just talking with people," she says. "We're like a family here."

John, who claims to be an introvert, states that the community's friendly environment has helped him grow. "I have been so much more outgoing here. I'm enjoying the company of the residents in ways I never expected," he says.

Envision your future

If this is your ideal retirement lifestyle, Associate Sales Director Amy Brennan recommends scheduling a personalized tour and joining the Priority List for a more in-depth look at community life.

"When you visit Fox Run, you'll see residents riding bikes, walking their dogs, playing on the pickleball courts, and enjoying coffee and conversations," says Brennan. "It's a wonderful opportunity to see how full of life and exciting this campus is."

Priority List members can even sign up for an immersive, overnight stay at Fox Run. "Guests can dine with current residents and attend club meetings that interest them," she explains.

For John and Sally, their overnight stay confirmed their decision to move.

"We believe so much in what retirement living should be," says Brennan. "You can enjoy this lifestyle too!"
