Fox Run Resident Earns Four Gold Medals at Michigan Senior Olympics Summer Games

As communities across the country celebrate Active Aging Month, Fox Run resident John Wehrly delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 Michigan Senior Olympics Summer Games, earning four gold medals and qualifying for the 2027 National Senior Games, scheduled to be held in Tulsa, Okla.

The Michigan Senior Olympics Summer Games kicked off on Aug. 7, 2026, bringing together athletes from across the state to compete in a wide variety of events. Competitions included archery, badminton, basketball, billiards, bowling, cornhole, cycling, disc golf, golf, pickleball, powerlifting, race walking, shuffleboard, softball, swimming, table tennis, tennis, track and field, triathlon, volleyball, and more.

Competing on Sept. 13 at Oakland University in the men's 85-90 age division, Wehrly won four gold medals and qualified for the 2027 National Senior Games. His first-place finishes included:

• 5K Power Walk
• 1-Mile Power Walk
• 800-Meter Run
• 1,500-Meter Run
