2015 TIME Dealer of the Year Nominee Bob Shuman and Ally Bank to donate $2000 to the winner of the Choose Your Charity Contest going on now.

WALLED LAKE, Michigan – Bob Shuman, the owner and president of Shuman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Walled Lake, MI, was recently named a 2015 TIME Dealer of the Year Nominee for the charitable contributions he has made to his community. Ally Financial Inc., one of the award’s biggest sponsors, has pledged to donate $1,000 to the charity of each nominee’s choice. As a result, Bob Shuman has committed to donating an additional $1,000 to whichever charitable organization wins the “Choose Your Charity Contest,” which is now accepting entries from the public.
The contest runs from now until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014. Contestants can go to the Shuman CDJR Facebook page to enter their name and contact information, along with the name of their favorite charity and a description of the organization that explains why it deserves to be recognized with a $2,000 donation.
Only one winner and their charity will be chosen by Bob Shuman, who will read through each entry and make the selection himself. The winner will be notified via email on or about 10 days after the contest ends on November 25th, and their preferred charity will receive $1,000 courtesy of Ally Bank, along with an additional $1,000 courtesy of Bob Shuman. In order to win, the nominated charity must be a 5013C. The official rules and conditions can be read in full at shumanmotor.net.

The TIME Dealer of the Year award is one of the automobile industry’s most prestigious and highly coveted honors. Recipients are among the nation’s most successful auto dealers who also demonstrate a long-standing commitment to community service. Shuman, 53, was chosen to represent the Detroit Auto Dealers Association in the national competition – one of only 55 auto dealers from 17,000 nationwide – nominated for the 46th annual award. The award is sponsored by TIME in association with Ally Financial, and in cooperation with NADA. A panel of faculty members from the Tauber Institute for Global Operations at the University of Michigan will select one finalist from each of the four NADA regions and one national Dealer of the Year.
“The dealers nominated for this award are dedicated business owners, auto lovers and, most importantly, champions for their local communities, with a willingness to give back on a grand scale,” said Tim Russi, president of Auto Finance for Ally Financial. “Ally is proud to honor and support these dealers as they work today and tomorrow to build better places to live, work and do business.”

“Helping my grandfather and my dad taught me long ago that we’re not in this business solely to make a buck,” Shuman said. “We’re in this business to help people. Sure, we’ve got to make a profit but, fundamentally, we’re here to help our customers, our employees, and our community in any way we can.”
