Change in Ford Fireworks Due to Weather
With severe weather expected, city makes announcement about Ford Fireworks display over Detroit River.
The Ford Fireworks are expected to begin at 9:06 p.m. tonight, an hour earlier than scheduled, due to severe weather expected in the area, The Detroit News reports.
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather statement for southeast Michigan, which could see tornadoes, wind gusts up to 70 mph and large hail. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 9 p.m. Another round of storms will move in later, with the greatest activity around midnight, the National Weather Service said.
More than 40 Michigan counties are included in the watch, including Oakland, Macomb, Wayne, Washtenaw, Livingston and Genesee.

If the fireworks are called off because of rain, they’ll be held Tuesday night, the city said.
