97.1 The Ticket Hosts 4th Annual Sportsfest at Novi's Suburban Collection Showplace

Detroit Sports Stars Including 4-Time Stanley Cup Championship Winners Nicklas Lidstrom and Tomas Holmstrom to Appear at this Year’s Event


Novi, Michigan (February 11, 2013) — 97.1 The Ticket will host its 4th annual SportsFest, the ultimate sports fan appreciation event on Saturday, February 16, from 10
a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Suburban Collection Showplace (46100 Grand River Avenue) in Novi, Michigan. While admission to the event is free, there will be a one-time
$10 donation fee for athlete autographs. All proceeds will benefit Beaumont Hospital and 97.1 The Ticket’s Student Heart Check Program. Parking is $5.00.


Fans can meet and greet current and former stars of their favorite Detroit teams – the Lions, the Tigers, the Red Wings and the Pistons. Athletes scheduled to appear (line-up may change without notification) include Detroit Red Wing Stanley Cup championship winners Nicklas
Lidstrom
and Tomas Holmstrom, in addition to Detroit Lions players Ryan Broyles, Jason Hanson and Cory Schlesinger, and former Detroit Pistons players Rick Mahorn, James Edwards, John Long and Earl Cureton.  Also at the event will be G4 “Attack of the Show” co-host Sara Jean Underwood (Playboy’s 2007 Playmate of the Year) and Angela Venditti (Miss Michigan 2012).

“This is one of our most highly anticipated events of the year,” said Jimmy Powers, 97.1 The Ticket’s Program Director.  “We’re excited to bring our fans some of Detroit’s biggest athletes from our revered sports teams.”


Attendees who make a one-time $10 donation will receive a numbered wristband.  Autographs will be on a first-come-first-served basis for those with the wristbands.  Due to the high demand anticipated for autographs, a wristband

The event also includes interactive games, youth clinics,
photo booths, merchandise, ticket sales and mascot appearances from the Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and Tigers. Also included:  A sports pub, roundtable discussions with 97.1 The Ticket hosts on The Main Stage, vendor displays, and an on-site broadcast from 97.1 The Ticket. Also new this year is the 97.1 The Ticket Tailgate Challenge. Fans can submit a picture of their best tailgate party set-up to enter 97.1 The Ticket’s Tailgate Challenge.
