Homeless Veterans Receive 'Care Packages' From Novi Students

Members of the Michigan Veterans Foundation picked up Monday items collected by a group of kids at Novi Meadows Elementary School.

A group of Novi Meadows Elementary School students recently created “care packages” for homeless veterans and were able to give those collected items to members of the Michigan Veterans Foundation who visited the school Monday, according to a HometownLife report.

Along with picking up the packages, the veterans also spoke with students about military service and what their group does, the report stated. The Michigan Veterans Foundation helps more than 100 homeless veterans in the Detroit area, the report added.

The packages, which the students put together as part of their Leader in Me service project, contained snacks and living essentials, as well as letters written by the kids to the veterans, the report stated.
