Man Charged After Attempting to Hit Daughter with Hammer

A 52-year-old Highland Township man is in jail after allegedly attaching his 24-year-old daughter on Sept. 13, reports The Detroit Free Press.

The man and his daughter were moving out of the residence they share when an argument broke out and the father became irate. After smashing several of his daughter’s belongings, the father allegedly began punching and choking her. The fight escalated outside when he picked up a hammer and attempted to strike her with it, according to The Detroit Free Press. The situation was neutralized when a witness stepped in and stopped the man.

The father denies harming his daughter, and has plead not guilty to a felony count of assault with a dangerous weapon and second-offense domestic violence. He remains in jail and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
