New Local Business Spotlight: Novi and Northville

Several new businesses have opened in Novi and Northville, including a massage therapist, acupuncturist and a grilled cheese restaurant.

The Novi and Northville areas are continuously growing, and this has created a lot of opportunities for local business owners. After all, Novi’s population increased by 5 percent from 2010 to 2013, which is a 4.9 percent higher increase than the overall state of Michigan.

The city of Northville is growing less quickly than Novi, but it’s still beating the statewide average. With this in mind, it is not surprising that new businesses keep popping up throughout these two cities.

There are numerous major companies coming into the area, but local, small businesses owners also have the ability to thrive with a good concept and the right location. It would be impossible to quickly highlight every new company that Novi and Northville’s residents can utilize, so here are a few of the latest options.

  1. Harmony Acupuncture - Owner and acupuncturist Soya Lee recently moved her successful Southfield office to Novi. Lee brings with her more than 15 years of experience, along with a Master’s of Science of Traditional Oriental Medicine. Additionally, Lee earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Other services that are offered at Harmony Acupuncture include holistic facial rejuvenation and cupping therapy.
  2. Tom+Chee - This specialty grilled cheese and tomato soup restaurant first saw life in 2009 as a food tent in Cincinnati, Ohio. Since that time, the idea has been featured on “Shark Tank” and NBC’s “Today.” This led to franchise opportunities, and the Northville Tom+Chee location is run by general manager Rob Cardenas. According to an interview Cardenas gave to the Detroit Free Press, the restaurant makes everything from scratch and receives fresh produce shipments six days a week.
  3. Anne L. Nader Licensed Massage Therapist - Anne L. Nader has been working as a massage therapist for more than eight years, and she is bringing this experience and skill set to Novi. The MI native received her massage certification from the Healing Arts Institute in Perrysburg, OH. Nader’s Novi massage therapy office is located in the Ten Haggerty Medical Building on W. 10 Mile, and she offers a mixture of modalities such as hot stone therapy and reflexology. There is currently an introductory grand opening special that provides new clients with a 60 minute massage for $49.

Other recently opened businesses in Northville include Granite City Food & Brewery and Gazelle Sports Northville. According to Crain’s Detroit Business, Nordstrom Rack will be opening their fifth MI location in Novi’s West Oaks shopping center next year.
