Novi-Based Kroger Announces Store Reopening

Shoppers will discover an updated 100,925-square-foot expanded Canton Kroger store with many new products and services when the location celebrates its grand reopening celebration on Wednesday, Dec. 10.

The first 400 shoppers will receive a free reusable shopping bag and a $10 gift card. The store will also offer food sampling and specials throughout the day.

The Canton store, located at 1905 Canton Center Rd., was 66,581 square feet before the $12 million remodel and expansion. The updated store offers amenities such as a new soup bar and cheese and olive bar in the deli, a bulk foods area in the natural foods department and a new drive through window in the pharmacy.

According to Daniel Baxter, store manager, the store meets the community’s needs by providing a comfortable environment with new products in every department.

“We offer seventy to eighty percent more product just in the delicatessen,” Baxter said. “The store is huge and allows us to better serve our customers by providing the specific products and services they desire.”

Many departments relocated, including the bakery and deli, meat and seafood, beer, wine and liquor, the floral department and Starbucks, to create a more convenient and intuitive layout.

The store installed new cash registers plus eleven additional check lanes – including two express lanes – to speed checkout. The remodel and expansion also resulted in the creation of 50 new part time jobs.

“All of this was possible because of the support of the Canton community,” Baxter said. “Kroger was able to expand the store and hire more workers because of customers’ commitment to shopping at our location.”

Other updates include new energy efficient food cases and refrigeration units plus attractive earth tone bountiful store décor. Customer and associate restrooms received a facelift and new furnishings. The store reconstructed and repaved the parking lot, with islands installed to better manage traffic flow.

The Canton Kroger is open 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily, with the pharmacy open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, please call 734-844-8910.
