Novi Mayor Bob Gatt Presents Spirit of Giving Award to Fox Run's Doreen Poupard

"Doreen Has Been a Shining Example of a True Community Partner, Ambassador and Friend."

NOVI, MI (May 3, 2016) – Mayor Bob Gatt has presented the Spirit of Giving Award to Fox Run retirement community’s Doreen Poupard in recognition of her kindness, professionalism, community involvement, and commitment to the City of Novi. The award is given to an individual or business who truly embodies the sense of kindness and giving.

“I would like to personally recognize an individual who goes above and beyond the walls of ‘her community’ for the betterment of ‘our community’ each and every day,” said Gatt. “Doreen has been a shining example of a true community partner, ambassador and friend.”

Poupard, a former member of the Novi City Council, is retired from the Ann Arbor Public School District, where she served as the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction from 1985-99. She earned her Ph.D. in instruction and curriculum from the University of Michigan.

Among her many community service highlights, she served the Girl Scouts of the Huron Valley Council in a variety of positions for 17 years and she volunteered for Arbor Hospice for six years.

Locally, she has made a big impact in the time she’s been in Novi. She has taken on a leadership role at Fox Run and has established groups like the Political Awareness Committee and has served as its resident director, which is an elected position.
