Novi Player Gets Ready for Spartans New Season
Tyler Hoover will be on the field when Michigan State opens its 2012 season tonight against Boise State.

When the Spartan football team gathers on their sideline for the season-opening kickoff in tonight's game against Boise State, you'll want to look for a local gridiron hero. Whether you are in the stands or watching on TV, keep an eye out for #91. That's Tyler Hoover, the 6'-7" senior defensive tackle from Novi. Hoover, the son of Mike and Angie Hoover, is a fifth-year player from Novi High School having red-shirted his freshman year. The two-year letter winner has 49 tackles, including four for losses (13 yards), three sacks (12 yards) and three pass break-ups in 29 career games, according to the MSU media guide. He has started in nine games for the Spartans.
Michigan State is ranked 13th and Boise State 24th in the Associated Press' preseason poll. ESPN.com predicts tonight's game in East Lansing will be a slugfest. Catch the action at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
