Novi's Fenchel Named Principal Of The Year
Fenchel named the 2017 Region 7 Principal of the Year by the Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association.

NOVI, MI - From Novi Community School District: Lisa Fenchel, a longtime educator in the Novi Community School District, has been named the 2017 Region 7 Principal of the Year by the Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association (MEMSPA).
This honor now qualifies the Novi Meadows Elementary principal as a candidate for the statewide competition, which will be announced in December.
A 25-year veteran of the district, Fenchel is recognized for her instructional leadership, organizational management, and an unwavering commitment to enriching the lives of countless fifth- and sixth-grade students in Meadows’ learning community.

“Principals play a crucial role in leading a school,” Novi Schools Superintendent Dr. Steve Matthews said. “They are responsible for creating a positive school culture, developing their staff, ensuring that each day is used well, working with and for their students, and responding to and supporting parents. Mrs. Fenchel has been a positive school leader at Novi Meadows for many years. This award recognizes the positive impact she has had on the lives of the students and staff at Novi Meadows.”
Prior to becoming principal in 2007, Fenchel served Meadows as a teacher (1992-2003) and assistant principal (2003-07).

Fenchel, who was hired in 1992, has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Eastern Michigan University.
Region 7 includes nearly 300 elementary and middle schools in Oakland County. MEMSPA is a professional association serving more than 1,200 members, divided into 14 regions. The regional award is presented annually to one administrator in each region, nominated by their peers and approved by the region’s executive board.
Novi Woods principal David Ascher was named Region 7 principal of the year in 2014.
