Rainbow Connection 13th Annual Walk for Kids Now Offers a New 5K at Kensington Park on August 22

As part of this family-friendly event, a timed 5K will be included this year making it the perfect event for families.

Join The Rainbow Connection for the 13th Annual Walk-Run for Kids on August 22, 2015 and help make dreams come true for children with life threatening illnesses. As part of this family-friendly event, a timed 5K will be included this year making it the perfect event for families and running enthusiasts alike.

Last year’s Walk for Kids raised more than $300,000 through team-building and fundraising efforts of individuals and families throughout Michigan. “

We have had a record number of wish children already in 2015,” said Mary Grace McCarter, Executive Director. “We rely on the generosity of the community to help us make dreams come true for these brave Michigan kids. The Walk for Kids is a family fun way for families to learn about The Rainbow Connection and give back to help families in their own community.”

From trips to Disney World to meeting celebrities and shopping sprees, The Rainbow Connection takes the dream of a Michigan child and makes it a reality.

The Wish Ambassador for the Walk-Run for Kids represents the hundreds of brave children battling life threatening illnesses. This year’s Metro Detroit Walk-Run Wish Ambassador is Josh from Chesterfield, MI.

“I am very honored to be picked as the Ambassador out of all of the lucky wish kids,” said Josh. “ I know I’m not the only kid, and being picked as the Ambassador out of all of them is a great feeling.”

The day includes games, crafts, live entertainment, inflatables, huge raffle and lunch for everyone.

Walk registration begins at 8am. Cost is $25 per walker and $35 per runner. Registration includes tshirt, parking and a hot dog lunch. To create a team and start fundraising, visit www.rainbowconnection.org/events

The Rainbow Connection, the Michigan charity making dreams come true for Michigan children stricken with life threatening also provides support services to the family. From a magical trip to Disney World to biking down volcanoes in Hawaii to meeting the President of the United States, The Rainbow Connection has made dreams come true for over 2800 children and anticipates making dreams come true for more than 150 children in 2015.
