STATE CHAMP: Novi's Sam Pavlika Wins Shot Put
The Novi High School girls track and field team finished seventh at the Division 1 state finals on Saturday in East Kentwood.
Sam Pavlika of Novi High School won the shot put at the Division 1 state track and field finals on Saturday at East Kentwood.
Pavlika won with a shot of 40 feet, 0 inches.
Sam Pavlika also finished fourth in the discus (117-3), and Taylor Pavlika was fifth in the discus (115-7).

In addition, Novi's 400-meter relay team of Mariah Smith, D'Maya Davis, Janee Hood and Jasmine Ward placed third with a time of 48.66 seconds.
Kelly McCloskey of Novi was seventh in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.73 seconds to earn all-state honors.

Kelly McCloskey, Taylor Mosley, Kerri McMahan and Ward were sixth in the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 4:01.40.
Novi finished seventh overall as a team.
