WWII Veteran Uses Social Media to Invite President Obama to Michigan Veterans Day Ceremony

NOVI, MI (March 30, 2015) -- WWII veteran Wilfrid “Robi” Robinson, U.S. Army, 99th Infantry Division, is using social media to invite President Obama to Fox Run retirement community’s upcoming November 11, 2015 Veterans Day ceremony.

Robinson, who was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and who received the Purple Heart, has posted a You Tube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzLZyIk6EYY ) in which he tells President Obama of the hundreds of WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans who live with him at Fox Run.

“If you could come as our Commander-in-Chief and talk to us we’d have an awful lot of veterans sitting up a lot straighter in their chairs, ” Robinson says to President Obama in the video.

Robinson’s video has been sent to President Obama and the White House via Twitter. It has also been posted on Facebook and LinkedIn. President Obama may RSVP at Tel: 248-863-3206, according to Robinson.

Robinson is accompanied in the You Tube video by Community Resources Coordinator Lindsay Ash, who asks President Obama to please send a short video in which he thanks Fox Run’s veterans for their service to our nation if his attendance at the Veterans Day ceremony is not possible.

The Fox Run Veterans Day ceremony will recognize every veteran via photographs of them in their military uniforms and narratives of their military service. Patriotic songs will be sung and testimonials will be shared.
