📰 News we're reading

• Village Council schedules public hearing for proposed budget, millage rates (lakeorionreview.com) — Lake Orion residents will soon have a chance to weigh in on the village’s proposed 2026–27 budget and millage rates at a public hearing set for 6:30 p.m. May 11 at Village Hall. Budget workshops are being broadcast on Orion ONTV, and the full budget will be available for public review starting May 1 online and at the clerk’s office.

• Lake refilling begins this month (lakeorionreview.com) — Lake Orion’s namesake lake will start refilling to summer levels the week of April 27, with village staff closely monitoring conditions. Residents may notice minor, temporary water level fluctuations as officials balance lake recreation needs with protecting Paint Creek, downstream properties, and local stormwater infrastructure from flooding risks.

• Safely dispose of medications during Natl. Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday (lakeorionreview.com) — Lake Orion residents can safely drop off unused prescriptions at the Orion Township Sheriff’s Substation during Saturday’s DEA Take Back Day, or year-round at that office and the Lake Orion Police Department. Local teens from Lake Orion High School support the effort, which aims to prevent youth access to opioids and protect the water supply from improper disposal.
