Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, but do believe speed played a role.

The 77-year-old Northville woman was speeding in a 2016 Volvo XC70 when she approached a curve and attempted to pass other vehicles, officials said.

As she moved around traffic, she then swerved to avoid a bicyclist who was moving west on East Gunn Road, officials said.

That's when she lost control and left the road, striking a tree, officials said.

The woman was trapped inside the car and had to be extricated from the vehicle, officials said.

She was taken to Henry Ford Rochester Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition, officials said.

A 12-year-old Bruce Township girl, who was a passenger inside the car, was not injured in the crash, officials said.

Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, but do believe speed played a role. They have not yet determined if the victims were wearing seatbelts.

Officials were still investigating the crash.
