• Village council awards $752K contract for street improvements (lakeorionreview.com) — Lake Orion's Village Council has approved a $751,815 street improvement contract for several roads west of M‑24, contingent on a state economic development grant. The project will be partly funded through special assessments on adjacent property owners, potentially spread over up to 10 years starting with the July 1, 2027 tax bill.
   

• Orion Twp. firefighters, DTE workers team up to rescue a kitten trapped in a pipe (lakeorionreview.com) — A kitten trapped inside a power transformer pipe near Lake Orion Plaza on Lapeer Road was safely rescued after Orion Township firefighters, DTE crews, DPW staff, and residents coordinated an hours-long effort. Power to several plaza businesses was briefly shut off so crews could safely access the pipe, and the kitten is now being checked at a veterinarian clinic after its more than 100‑foot journey to safety.
