• Oakland County SWAT training underway this week (fox2detroit.com) — Lake Orion residents should expect visible SWAT training at the Pine Tree Center on Thursday, including tactical vehicles, drones, and loud training noises that may sound like gunfire. Oakland County Sheriff's officials stress these drills in Lake Orion, Orion Township, Pontiac, and Waterford are scheduled exercises only, with no threat to public safety and no need to call 911 about the activity.
• Lake Orion football loses to Oxford 34-15 on Friday night (lakeorionreview.com) — Lake Orion football fans saw the Dragons fall 34-15 to rival Oxford on Friday night at Wildcat Stadium, dropping Lake Orion to 1-2 this season. The game featured a touchdown grab by senior Michael Champine and several strong runs, and the team now turns its focus to a Sept. 25 home matchup against Rochester Adams.
• Hydra Dragons help create pollinator garden in downtown LO (lakeorionreview.com) — Downtown Lake Orion just gained a new native pollinator garden at the entrance to Meeks Park, thanks to the Hydra Dragons middle school robotics team, the Lake Orion DDA, and Rochester Pollinators. Local students from all three Lake Orion middle schools prepped, planted over 200 Michigan-native plants, and learned how pollinators and good land stewardship support biodiversity close to home.
