1 Arrested In Oakland County Freeway Shooting: Police

Police said there were no injuries.

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, MI — One person has been arrested in connection with a Wednesday freeway shooting in Oakland County, according to Michigan State Police.

The shooting happened at 5:40 p.m. on northbound Interstate 75 near Ortonville Road in Independence Township, according to police.

Police did not release specific details about the shooting, but noted there were no injuries.

Investigators worked through the night and identified the suspect, who was then arrested. They also recovered the suspect's car and a firearm.

Police did not release the suspect's name, but said he was placed in the Oakland County. He is expected to be charged with felonious assault and carrying a concealed weapon.

No other details were released.

"The Michigan State Police takes freeway shootings and incidents of road rage involving firearms extremely seriously," police said in a statement. "These crimes put everyone traveling on our freeways at risk, and they will be thoroughly investigated. Those responsible will be identified and held accountable through the criminal justice system."
