Highlights from reports through last week:
A 20-year-old Lake Orion man contacted the Orion Township Substation after finding his car windshield had been shattered, according to a police report.
The car was parked in front of his friend’s house on the 3000 block of Rolling Hills Road. The glass was shattered on the driver’s side, according to the report, and the deputy was unable to locate an item that could have caused the damage. According to the report, the window was shattered sometime between Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
While the deputy was interviewing the Lake Orion man, one of his friends, a 19-year-old from Lake Orion, arrived on the scene and noted that his car’s windshield had also been damaged at the same location and within the same time frame, said the report. The deputy also found one other vehicle in the area with a broken window, according to the report. Nothing appeared to be stolen from either vehicle.
On Saturday a 36-year-old Oxford resident contacted the Orion Township Substation to report that his trailer, a 12-volt battery and his generator were missing.
According to the resident, the generator was on the trailer in his office’s front yard as of 5 p.m. Friday, when he last saw it. The man’s office is located on the 300 block of Brown Road and the man noted both the Kohler 45,000 kilowatt generator and the Wheel Wonder Tandem trailer had been on the property for more than a year, said the report. There are no suspects at this time.
A Pontiac woman was arrested last week on fraud charges, according to an Orion Township Substation report.
A Lake Orion Diagnostic Imaging employee reported that the woman had entered the business, located at 1375 S. Lapeer Rd., crying because her baby had been airlifted to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor from a location in Oxford. The woman described her baby as being 18 months old, showed a picture of the baby and explained her child had already undergone three heart surgeries, said the report.
The employee pooled money with an employee from Lake Orion Urgent Care, totaling $49, and gave it to the woman, said the report. The woman left her phone number and the baby’s name with the employee.
According to the report, the employee contacted the hospital, which was not able to verify the baby was being airlifted to the hospital. The report indicated that similar incidents had been reported by residents working or living along Lapeer Road. On April 3, a Sycamore Creek Apartments employee contacted the substation to report that a suspicious woman had come into the leasing office saying her child had been airlifted and she needed money for gas to get to the hospital, said the report.
The Lake Orion Diagnostic Imaging employee was asked to come to the scene and confirmed the woman was the same one who took money from her, according to the report. The 30-year-old Pontiac woman's vehicle was impounded and she was placed under arrest.
