These awards are part of $1.6 million in grants supporting rural infrastructure and agriculture statewide, alongside other mid-Michigan business developments from MSU’s new tech center to regional manufacturing and education news.

2. Owosso's Lebowsky Center receives $80,500 historic preservat... (argus-press.com) — A nearly century-old landmark in downtown Owosso just secured an $80,500 state historic preservation grant to repair its deteriorating exterior masonry and stop damaging water leaks. The Lebowsky Center for Performing Arts, a longtime cultural hub, is one of only eight rural projects statewide chosen, helping ensure the theater remains safe, functional, and vibrant for future generations of local residents.

Prep roundup 10-3-2026 (argus-press.com) — Owosso athletes had a big week, with golfer Samantha Ross clinching the Flint Metro League individual title and then winning a large pre-regional field, while the Trojans’ volleyball team gained a forfeit win over Lake Fenton. Owosso swimmers dominated Flint Kearsley/Lake Fenton in a league dual, and Trojan cross country runners led the FML Stars boys standings, giving local fans plenty to follow as regional tournaments and key league meets approach.

4. Owosso-area man pleads guilty to child sexually abusive acti... (argus-press.com) — An Owosso Township resident has pleaded guilty in Shiawassee County Circuit Court to aggravated child sexually abusive activity for sharing illegal material online from his home computer. The 42-year-old’s bond was revoked after the plea, and he now faces up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced in November. Authorities also dismissed a second related charge under the agreement.
