2 Dead In Separate Canton Township Crashes: Police
Police said a Canton woman died in a three-vehicle crash and a Westland man died in a motorcycle crash.
CANTON TOWNSHIP, MI — Two people were killed in two separate Thursday crashes in Canton Township, police said.
Police said a Canton woman, 77, was driving a black Chevrolet HHR south on Haggerty Road near Van Born Road at 5 p.m. when the car was hit by a gray Lincoln MKX that was driven by a 34-year-old Detroit woman, who was also driving south on Haggerty Road.
The Chevrolet HHR was then hit by a blue Chevrolet Equinox that a 72-year-old Lincoln Park woman was driving north on Haggerty Road, police said.

The 77-year-old Canton woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she died, police said. Officials said the Detroit woman and the Lincoln Park were also taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police were still investigating the crash and do not believe drugs or alcohol played a factor.

A few hours later, police said a Westland man, 53, was riding a motorcycle north on Beck Road from Cherry Hill Road at 9 p.m. when he lost control and rode off the right side of the road.
The Westland man was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, police said.
Officials were still investigating the motorcycle crash and do not know if alcohol played a role in the crash.
