2 Women Sexually Assaulted While Walking In Ann Arbor, Police Say

Two women were sexually assaulted within five minutes of each other near the University of Michigan's North Campus, police said.

ANN ARBOR, MI — Police are asking for tips after they said two women were sexually assaulted within five minutes of each other in Ann Arbor on Sunday.

A 22-year-old woman was walking to a bus stop in the area of Lake Lila Drive and Plymouth Road on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. when a driver in a white or silver four-door sedan drove past her, stopped, and then backed up, police said.

The man got out of the car, groped the woman and tried pulling her into the car, police said.

The woman then pushed the man and broke free, police said. She was not injured in the attack.

Police did not say which direction the car sped away, but did describe the attacker as a man between 20 and 30 years old with a full, dark beard. Police say he was about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and had a medium build.

A 25-year-old woman also told police she was sexually assaulted on Sunday in Ann Arbor, roughly a mile and a half from the other reported assault.

Police said the woman was walking south on Nielson Court near Maiden Lane at 4:25 p.m. when the driver in a four-door sedan pulled up next to her.

The man got out of the car and blocked the woman's path on the sidewalk, police said. Officials said he then groped her and pulled down his pants, exposing himself and touching himself inappropriately.

The woman then ran away and was not injured in the attack, police said.

Police described the man with short, curly hair.

Police did not say if the two women are University of Michigan students or if the incidents were connected to each other, as the investigation continues.
