A permanent successor to longtime treasurer Raymond Wojtowicz will be chosen in the November 2016 elections.

The vacancy will occur Dec. 1 with the retirement of longtime treasurer Raymond Wojtowicz, 86, a Democrat and former mayor of Hamtramck who has held the position for nearly 40 years. Wojtowicz announced last month that he would retire.
