950 Automotive Glass-Finishing Jobs Coming to Plymouth
Fuyao North America, the world's largest automotive glass manufacturer, has purchased vacant warehouse on North Sheldon Road.

PLYMOUTH, MI — Fuyao North America, the world’s largest automotive glass manufacturer, has purchased a vacant warehouse in Plymouth for $9.5 million and will create 950 jobs over the next three years,The Plymouth Observer reported.
Glass manufactured in Ohio and China will be finished at Fuyao’s new logistics facility, which will occupy the warehouse at 909 N. Sheldon Road, and then shipped to automakers, including Detroit’s Big Three automakers — General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The finishing process includes the addition of buttons, clips and trim pieces.
The first 450 jobs will be create within two years and 500 more will be added within three years, Plymouth community development director John Buzuvis said. A research and development division is expected to be added within two years he said.

Farmington Hills-based developer Grand Sakwa had planned a regional shopping center on the 34-acre property, but city officials declined to change its light industrial zoning classification that would have allowed the shopping center.
