21-Year-Old Man Killed In Wayne County Crash: Police

Investigators have not indicated whether alcohol, speed or distracted driving were factors in the crash.

VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, MI — A 21-year-old man is dead after a Tuesday crash in Wayne County, according to police.

The crash happened at 6 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Haggerty and Tyler roads in Van Buren Township, according to police.

Police said a 36-year-old Taylor man was driving a Chevrolet Traverse west on Tyler Road when he slammed into a Chevrolet Impala at the intersection.

The driver of the Impala, a 21-year-old man from Van Buren Township, was killed in the crash, according to police.

The 36-year-old man was taken to Trinity Hospital – Ann Arbor where he is listed in stable condition, according to police.

Investigators have not indicated whether alcohol, speed or distracted driving were factors in the crash.

Police are still investigating the crash and asked anyone who may have witnessed this accident or has information related to the incident is asked to contact Detective Dave Champagne or D/Lt. Kenneth Floro at (734) 699-8930.
