Ann Arbor Man Hit, Killed By Snowplow Driver: Police

An 80-year-old Ann Arbor man was killed Friday after police said he was hit by a truck that was plowing snow.

ANN ARBOR, MI — An 80-year-old Ann Arbor man was killed Friday after police said he was hit by a truck that was plowing snow.

Police said a man was plowing snow in his driveway on the 500 block of West Huron Street at 7:10 p.m. when he backed up and hit the 80-year-old man.

The elderly man was taken to the University of Michigan Hospital, where he died from significant head trauma, police said.

The driver of the snowplow remained on the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.

The man, 58, also told officers he didn’t realize he hit the elderly man until a bystander who witnessed the crash got his attention and told him to stop, police said.

Police did not believe alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
