Automotive Glass Supplier Fuyao To Create 533 Jobs In Plymouth

China-based Fuyao received a $1 million performance-based grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corp.

PLYMOUTH, MI — Boosted by a $1 million performance grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corp., a Plymouth automotive glass supplier plans to invest $66.3 million in a expansion that will create 533 jobs. China-based Fuyao Automotive North America Inc. expects to begin production by fall in the vacant 528,000-square-foot warehouse at 909 N. Sheldon.

"For this all to work out and to have an international company that is going to bring in hundreds of jobs is not only good for the city, but also for surrounding communities," Plymouth Community Development Director John Buzuvis told The Plymouth Observer.

Fuyao, the largest supplier of automotive glass in China and the second-largest supplier in the world, plans to move 350 jobs from a leased site in Lake Orion, and add 183 more in Plymouth.
