Canton Leisure Services Seeking Input on Park Master Plan

Residents are being asked to help shape the undeveloped 134-acre Patriot Park acquired with a Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant.

Canton Leisure Services, winner of the National Gold Medal for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management, is seeking community input as a key part of the strategic process for updating its Patriot Park Master Plan.

Members of the community are invited to submit comments at the Patriot Park Master Plan Open House on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Summit on the Park, located at 46000 Summit Parkway, Canton.

Stop by any time during this event in the Summit’s Arts II Room and provide feedback to the recent updates to the Patriot Park Master Plan Draft, which is available for review at www.cantonfun.org. Hard copies are also available for review during regular business hours at the Summit on the Park front desk and at the Canton Leisure Services Administrative Office, located at 1150 S. Canton Center Road, Canton.

Canton residents can also provide feedback about the Patriot Park Master Plan Draft by taking an online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PatriotParkUpdate2015, which will be available through Monday, March 9, 2015.

“Members of our community now have an opportunity to submit their feedback which is of critical importance to the success of our planning process for Patriot Park,” said Brad Sharp, Parks Manager. “The community also has a chance to direct where we’re headed with the development of Patriot Park to include natural spaces, trails, athletic opportunities and other desired amenities.”

Located on the northwest corner of Ford and Ridge Roads, through a Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant for the purpose of creating a large community park, which would provide both passive and active recreation opportunities.
