City of Plymouth To Hold Memorial Day Ceremony And Vehicle Procession

A Memorial Day celebration will be held Monday, May 29th, from 9:00AM until Noon, in Plymouth. The celebration is hosted by the Plymouth American Legion Post 391, the Mayflower Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6695, the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 528, and the Plymouth Lions Club. The event is being held in conjunction with the City of Plymouth.

A tribute to veterans will begin at 9:15AM at the Plymouth Veterans Memorial Park, at the corner of Main Street, and Church Street, in Downtown Plymouth, across the street from the Plymouth Historical Museum.

The Master of Ceremonies will be Lieutenant Colonel Krista McKinley, US Marine Corps, (Retired).
McKinley is a 1992 US Naval Academy graduate, who was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the USMC. She was one of the first women to serve onboard a US naval ship, and also one of the first women to earn her wings as a military parachutist, and airborne rigger.

Guest speaker will be Major Joseph Tebor, US Army (Retired). Tebor is the Commander-elect for the Plymouth VFW Post 6695. Her began his military career in 1970, when he was commissioned as a second lieutenant, after graduating from Western Michigan University. During the Vietnam War, he worked various facets of military intelligence. After Vietnam, Tebor served in a variety of leadership positions, including weapons development during the Gulf War.

After the ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, there will be a police escorted vehicle procession through the City of Plymouth to honor our veterans. The procession will consist of vehicles carrying our local veterans, and their family or friends.
