Commute Alert: How I-275 Closure Affects Rush Hour

Work begins Tuesday on the next stretch of the $75 million project.

A portion Interstate 275 northbound will be closed after the morning rush hour Tuesday and will remain closed until mid-September.

The freeway closes from M-14 north to Interstate 696, the Michigan Department of Transportation said.

Construction on the southbound lanes of I-275 finished early because of dry weather.

MDOT’s Diane Cross said ramps will close first on Tuesday, according to WWJ/CBS Detroit.

“Then, once all those ramps are closed, then the only traffic driving northbound is that [which] is already on the freeway then we’ll shut it down at 96 and M-14,””Cross said. “So that’s expected to take a few hours.”
