SUPERIOR TOWNSHIP, MI — Eastern Michigan University basketball star Emoni Bates was arrested Sunday night in Superior Township after police found a gun in his car when they stopped him for running an intersection, multiple reports said, citing the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office.

Bates, 18, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a gun with altered ID numbers. He was scheduled to appear in court later Monday, reports said.

Bates was the top overall high school recruit in 2021 out of Lincoln High School and initially committed to Michigan State University before recommitting to Memphis University.
